Waterbed sheets are no different than regular bed sheets in terms of the actual basic purpose; they help protect the bed and they help to keep the bed hygienic.
Of all the beds available on the market today, the waterbed still remains one of the best choices for various reasons.
Some like it because it's great for contouring and gives a great night sleep; others love it because it's just plain cool to say that you have a waterbed! But water beds, like regular beds, do require waterbed sheets.
But waterbed sheets tend to go a little beyond the regular bed sheet in performing its duties since a waterbed isn't just any regular old bed. Waterbeds tend have a very thick cover coating that is usually made out of a plastic or a softer linoleum material that hold the water inside the bed.
But this covering causes regular bed sheets to slip off the bed easily. Moreover regular bed sheets can be quite thin, especially to give waterbeds the added protection against potential punctures.
So there are specially made bedding for waterbeds that not only 'stick' to the covering to keep the bedding in place, but also bedding that is thick and solid enough to protect against punctures.
The under side of these waterbed sheets either use a light suction grip which holds the underside of the bed sheet to the top of the covering, or they use a static grip in which a light charge of static electricity is generated when the underside of the bedding meshes with the top of the waterbed covering.
While these waterbed sheets may sound a tad complicated and even a bit uncomfortable, it should be noted that these waterbed sheets are just as comfortable as ordinary bed sheets and are usually made from the very same materials that ordinary bedding is made from.
Cotton, wool, fleece, stain, silk you name it, there's a waterbed sheet made from it, again the only difference will be the underside of the sheet. And waterbed sheets are available in every style, set and design just as any other bedding on the market.
Apart from comfort and the aesthetic, there are waterbed sheets that can also heat the bed or cool it down. The overall purpose of these sheets is the same, though it must be noted again, that the design will differ slightly to accommodate a waterbed.
However if you are not a fan of heating pads and electric blankets, there are also waterbed mattresses available, just like regular mattresses, that have built in heaters.
So if you're thinking that you've limited yourself and your waterbed sheets where bedding options are concerned, then think again! The waterbed is still one of the coolest beds around, and all the stuff available on the market won't let you forget that!
