Types of Kitchen Sinks

Types Of Kitchen Sinks: The purpose they are intended to serve may be the same, but when it comes to kitchen sinks, the variety on the market is so vast sometimes it's hard to tell if it belongs in a kitchen or in the Queen's bedchambers.

It's no joke; there are many types of kitchen sinks. The most popular type of kitchen sinks in newer houses is the under-mount kitchen sink. This is basically a sink that is installed under the countertop to create a seamless flow.

The reason it has become so popular in newer homes is because it is not only easy to clean and maintain but its appearance and sleek design gives a very modern effect.

Another reason that these kitchen sinks are so popular is because many new houses are being built with longer-lasting materials. The kitchen is one place that is seeing this upgrade in areas like counter and countertop as concrete (or solid material) and granite are being used more frequently.

The under-mount kitchen sinks matches the durability of these longer-lasting materials and it is one of the best options for counters and countertops made out of solid materials. This type of kitchen sinks does not work well with laminated countertops as the condensation that is taking place under the counter will cause the laminate to start to 'bubble' after a while.

Another type of kitchen sinks are the self-rimming skin sinks . This is perhaps the easiest sinks to install as they are installed on top the counter as opposed to under it. As the name implies, the self-rimming sinks refers to the design quality having a rolled or finished edge or rim.

This sink is not only easy to maintain but it can be used with a number of counter and countertop materials. But perhaps the self -rimming sinks greatest quality is that it can be replaced without ruining or causing damage to the counter.

The single bowl kitchen sinks have one large basin, and it is a great choice for those who use large pots and pans. The design of this sink makes it very inconspicuous and unobtrusive especially since they come in a variety of sizes.

It is commonly seen as bar sink or a second sink in the kitchen; usually a small single bowl sink is found in a kitchen island. The double bowl kitchen sinks are very much like the single bowl sink only it allows for more configurations in the kitchen having two basins.

Usually the basins are the same size, but for maximum efficiency today's kitchen is seeing the double bowl kitchen sink with one smaller basin and one larger basin.

This type of sinks are very versatile as it allows more than one person to be at the skin at the same time and it also allows for more than one task to take place at the sink at the same time, such as washing on one side and drying on the other, or washing on one side and garbage disposal on the other.

The triple bowl kitchen sinks are yet another sink that is revolutionizing time management and efficiency in the kitchen. This sink has two large basins and one small basin in the middle for garbage disposal. It is as versatile and it is functional and it is quickly becoming a popular choice for many on-the-run middle class working families.

Some sinks, like the Apron Front (farmhouse) kitchen sinks, are designed with more of an aesthetic, interior décor feel to them. The apron front sink is usually made up on one large basin and an exposed front panel that gives a very traditional, homely, farmhouse effect.

Needless to say this sink works best with a country style décor, but because it is not as popular as some other sinks on the market, finding counters and cabinets to fit it isn't always easy; usually these counters and cabinets are specially made for this type of sink and décor.

The bar entertainment prep sinks are an under-mount or recessed sink that is installed under the counter to create a seamless flow. And again, with any under-mount sink, these work best with concrete or solid material counters rather than materials like laminate that tend to 'bubble' after a some time due to condensation.

And finally, the gourmet kitchen sinks are a type of sink that comes with the choice of one or two basins and a length of tray to one side that allows many tasks to be performed right at the sink. This type of sinks have becoming increasingly popular in recent times because it is perhaps the easiest way to upgrade the kitchen and kitchen sinks system.
