The pressure from your body is supposed to be completely absorbed and then it is evenly distributed through the surface of the tempur-pedic mattress. When you get up off the mattress it is supposed to revert back to its original shape.
There are also tempur-pedic pillows available that are supposed to be able to relieve stress from around your neck. The material that these tempur-pedic products are made from is viscoelastic, which is "open cell" and polyurethane based.
This open cell is a breathable structure which promotes air flow as pressure is applied to the tempur-pedic mattresses the air is automatically pushed out of these tempur cells and as the body pressure is removed the cells will re-inflate themselves and the tempur-pedic mattress will return to its original shape.
