Types of Kitchen Stoves

Kitchen Stoves: No kitchen is complete without a kitchen stove and with good reason too. A kitchen is known as the place to get food, it is everyone's favorite watering hole. So it is only natural that it should be equipped with all the necessary tools and appliances for preparing food.

The kitchen stove is by far one of the most important kitchen appliances and some may even argue that the stove is only next in importance to the refrigerator!

But while the stove maybe of utmost importance, it is not always necessary to have the biggest, best or even latest model, as the purpose of the stove is generally the same and no stove will perform less than being able to prepare food.

Every type of stove on the market will be able to carry out its sole purpose, but the very many variations of stove out there will be able to do different things with food. Here are the various types of stoves on the market today.

Stoves have come a long way from when they first appeared on the cooking scene. All across the world stoves came in many different fashions and were actually very basic in design.

From wood, metal and masonry stoves to fireplace stoves that came with chimneys, stoves today are much more complex in design though the purpose is the same.

Today the two most popular types of stoves are the gas stove and the electric stove and these differ significantly from stoves of olden times because those stoves were fueled by wood or other bio-fuels like coal or charcoal.

Gas stoves however took the world by storm in the 1880's and was only preceded by the more technologically advanced electric stove since electricity became much more common and accessible than liquefied natural gas used to fuel gas stoves, though it must be said that these two general types of stoves continue to have commercial success.

On the market today, there is a gas or electric stove for every imaginable style of cooking possible.

For domestic stoves the most common type is the heating-cooking-oven combination, which simply does exactly what the name implies; because of the presence of cook-top burners they can heat and cook, and the oven compartment is perfect for baking with its separate burner so that both the cook-top and the oven can be used simultaneously.

This type of domestic stove comes in every style and fashion to match any kitchen décor and though it is possible to choose from varying sizes of oven and cook-tops depending on your needs, the purpose of the domestic stove is very much the same irrespective of manufacturers' trademark models.

There are also commercial stoves such as fire place conversion ovens used in bakeries and the pizza ovens used for large scale manufacturing of pizzas. These stoves are usually quite large and can heat up to very high temperatures.

Wood-burning boilers and large kettles are also types of stoves that are employed in manufacturing food and beverages, particularly candies in the case of the former and beer in the case of the latter. And lastly, there are also portable stoves that can be used for camping for entertaining.

These stoves are usually very small and light weight and can either be electric or gas fueled. Indeed, in recent times there have been many variations of portable stoves gracing the market, from camp stoves, to flambé entertainment stoves and even small electric or gas fueled backyard grills and barbeque pits.

And one can be sure that in this ever changing world, we are only beginning to see the advancements in stove technology.
