Kitchen Sinks

When thinking of purchasing kitchen sinks you will probably be surprised to know that there are quite a variety of materials, styles, sizes and price ranges of kitchen sinks to choose from.

Kitchen sinks are made from materials such as Stainless Steel, Porcelain, Granite, Coated Cast Iron, Enamel Steel (these are enamel coating over a steel base), Solid Surface and Composite (these are made from a composite of materials such as acrylic and quartz).

Kitchen sinks are mounted in two ways, they can either be installed above the top of the counter or below the top of the counter.

The easiest type of installation is above the top of the counter, but the advantage of installing below the top of the counter kitchen sinks is that the overall finished look would be much more attractive, plus the fact that it will be much easier to clean.

Howevert this type of installation also has its downside in that it is going to cost more to install, as compared to an above the counter installation.

Here are a few basic guidelines to help you get those new kitchen sinks installed properly.

. First, get the correct measurement for your kitchen sinks by placing the template which came with your new sinks on the top of the counter and drawing an outline of it.

. Now remove the template and drill holes at all the corners of the outline you just made from the template, then start cutting the hole for your sink using these holes that you drilled as a guideline for where you will have to cut.

. Turn the sinks upside down and put some plumbers putty around the edges of the drain pipe opening then place the strainer into position and tighten it with a wrench. Install the gasket on the sink drain tail piece and attach it to thestrainer.

. You are almost done just a few steps more, apply some plumbers putty around all the edges of the underside of the sink's lip, then turn the sink over and insert it into the opening, then tighten it against the counter top with mounting clips.

. Apply some plumbers putty around the underside of the kitchen sinks faucet to ensure a watertight seal and tighten it in position.

. Finally attach all plumbing connections to the water supply and apply some silicone sealant caulking along the edges of the kithen sinks where it connects to the counter top so that it will be properly waterproofed.
