Kitchen Faucets

Kitchen Faucets: Accents and accessories are the kinds of details that truly make or break the appeal and feel of your house. In the kitchen, among the large appliances, cabinets and countertops, it's truly the small things that make the décor look complete. And among the small things, perhaps the most noticeable is the kitchen faucet.

But the aesthetic of a kitchen faucet is only one part of the complete equation. What is foremost on everyone's mind is the durability and functionality of the faucet that will ultimately be used in the kitchen.

And with so many options on the market to choose from, it is always useful to know a bit more about the faucets that catch your eye.

So here are the various types of kitchen faucets that you may come across. With regards to the aesthetic, one simple way for you to identify the many different brands and types of faucets is by identifying the material it is made from.

Stainless steel, chrome, brass, copper and nickel are all very popular choices, but for different reasons.

For instance, in many modern kitchens stainless steel faucets and chrome faucets are common choices because of their high shine, sleek and futuristic look, whereas for a more antique, classic or traditional style, faucets made from brass and copper are the faucets of choice.

Another way, and perhaps the most important way, of knowing the different types of faucets available on the market, is by knowing how these faucets work.

In essence, there are only two main types of faucets with regards to how they actually work and those are compression faucets and mixing faucets.

Most compression faucets will almost always have two handles; one for hot water flow and one for cold water flow through washers. Whereas mixing faucets usually have a single handle, knob or lever and the mechanism is simple, one handle is used to manage both the pressure and the temperature.

Mixing faucets have a longer life than compression faucets, but since their physical appeal tilts in the direction of modern, many people still prefer the faucet with two handles.

The most important feature of any type of kitchen faucet is that the faucet delivers water reliably and uncontaminated although the various packages available on the market will set different moods in the kitchen and of course, will be chosen to complement a certain design and décor.

Whether faucets are chosen based on the size, the finish, the spigot, the handles or the functionality, it is always important to choose a faucet that will last as long as your sink.

And when deciding among the various types of kitchen faucets it is always useful to consider how compatible its design is with other appliances and components in the room, as well as how you intend on using the kitchen sink.

For instance the spigot of the Gooseneck faucet makes it easy when filling pitchers or pans used to make pasta pasta which is useful if the sink is going to be solely for cooking purposes, whereas pull-out sprayers can extend beyond the kitchen sink because of the long extendable plastic hose and this is a useful feature for those who have many kitchen plants or a small window garden.

And finally, when it comes to the many varied types of kitchen faucets, it is useful to bear in mind that you may be constrained to specific brands or types by the number of sink holes you have. This determines how many accessories, handles or componests will suit the type of faucet you need.
