Kitchen Cabinet

Kitchen Cabinet: The kitchen is the one place where clutter occurs just as easily as it does in a child's play room. The problem is simple; too many things and no where to store them. The solution is just as simple; kitchen cabinets.

Kitchen cabinets are as functional as they are decorative and this is possibly the best combination of qualities for a kitchen. But there are more to kitchen cabinets than just as storage units.

There are many types of kitchen cabinets for the many different functions that they serve. Here are some of the various types of kitchen cabinets that can be found on the market today. The most classic and perhaps the most basic of all kitchen cabinets is the hutch.

The hutch has always been used as both a space saver because of its storage capabilities and as a kitchen accent because of its touch of elegance in displaying prized dishes and wares.

From the inexpensive dinner sets to priceless china, a hutch offers a place for every dish and when arranged with other kitchen accents a hutch can truly complete any kitchen décor. Perhaps the only downside with employing a hutch as a storage unit is the floor space that will be taken up, but just like choosing any kitchen cabinet, choosing the correct size hutch will lessen this disadvantage.

Another very popular type of kitchen cabinet, especially in modern-built homes, is the hanging cabinet. As the name implies these kitchen cabinets hang from the ceiling down to an accessible height. This type of kitchen cabinet totally eliminates the ever recurring problem of insufficient floor space.

Because global populations are increasing, many countries are seeing a rise in the demand for housing, and with limited space available, houses are getting smaller.

This explains why the whole face of interior décor is changing. It is no different with kitchen accents. Hanging kitchen cabinets utilize air space that would otherwise go unused instead of imposing on floor space.

The disadvantage with hanging cabinets is the limit in weight capacity and the materials that can be used to make the cabinets. Usually light but durable wood is used, and while hanging cabinets can be made uniformed and fashionable there is not much freedom with regards to the aesthetic.

In light of new developments in kitchen décor, the standard counter-top-and-cabinet-lined storage units are still very highly esteemed for its unobtrusive and serviceably convenient capabilities.

Because they are usually built from the ground up, weight isn't much of a problem and they allow for a significant amount of storage space. The aesthetic of the cabinets can further be enhanced by use of a classy or posh counter top finish such as granite or marble.

A relatively new development with these traditional counter cabinets is the more incorporative version known as the kitchen island. Kitchen islands may also double as additional counter space, built-in stoves, kitchen sinks, garbage disposals and even freezers while still serving the purpose of a cabinet. In addition to these kitchen cabinets there are also kitchen cabinets that serve to 'fill in the gaps' or just add a little extra storage space where needed such as corner cabinets and wall units.

Apart from the functionality of these types of cabinets their purpose is also highly aesthetic and appealing since many of these kitchen cabinets are neat and can be made to fit nicely into any existing space. They are also some of the more inexpensive storage units on the market since they can be bought as individual pieces and not only as an entire cabinet set.
