Interior Designers

Interior Designers: When most people think about art, they usually tend to think about great paintings hanging in museums or huge sculptures outside of corporate buildings, but believe it or nor the most common art form is as close to you as your own living room, interior decorating.

Painters and sculptors are just some kinds of artists; you'd be surprised to know that interior designers are artists too.

Interior designers combine different artistic art forms such as lighting and colour with safety and functionality to turn your interior space into a working work of art.

Basically the interior deisgners job is to combine lighting, space, different textures, varied colors and specifc pieces of furniture together in order to create a beautiful pleasing match to suit the needs of their client be it a homeowner or a business office.

But interior designers are in no way limited to only colours, lighting etc, especially in today's wider industry of design and architecture. Traditionally interior designers would concentrate mostly on decorating ideas. The focal point would almost always be on choosing the right lighting, the best peices of furniture, carpet and curtains but mostly getting the style and colors right.

However, because many talented individuals opt for a career in interior design, it sems now that many more designers are becoming involved in design work such as architectural detailing. Detailing work like crown moldings, cabinetry, walk in closets, bookshelves built in to the walls, the positioning of internal staircases, windows, doors, walkways and even escalators where necessary.

So today's Interior designers is so much more than a decorator and this is also reflected in the academic requirements for entering the profession. In many States across the U.S Interior Designers must also be licensed.

Today's interior designers are very educated and savvy, being able to read house plans and interpret blueprints, creating space for people with diabilities and ensuring fire and building codes are adhered to in the designs. Even more importantly greater collaboration with the other stakeholders like the electrician, the plumber, the architects and other building contractors ensures their designs conform to proper safety and construction needs.

Indeed they are professionals.

But perhaps the greatest quality about interior designers is the fact that they work according to individuals' needs, ideas and budget, and they can almost certainly conjure a design with these in mind.

Moreover designers will make the entire designing process even simpler by specifying types of materials, finishes and furnishings including hiring contractors or installers to get the project done.

And an additional benefit is that a projected timeline is given so that projects do not run longer than necessary and both designer and individual are happy.
