Gutter Cleaning Tips: Cleaning gutters is not really a hard task but it is somewhat messy and do require you to be on a ladder, and hold some sort of balance, so if you know that you are afraid of heights or just cannot stand heights then the best advice would be for you to hire a professional to do the job for you.
Here are some useful tips on gutter cleaning if you are planning on doing it yourself:
First off you will have to get yourself a ladder. Now remember that you are going to be placing the ladder on the ground probably somewhere on the grass where it is not all that level.
Be very careful when positioning the ladder, make sure that it is sitting steady on the ground and that it is not wobbling. Now get yourself a bucket which you can tie onto the ladder with a string, so you can place all the debris you have collected in it.
This will be much easier that climbing up and down the ladder to dispose of this debris. Also remember that gutter fixtures are not very strong so you do not want to put all your body weight on them as they might crack causing you to loose your balance and have an accident.
Get yourself some sort of scoop whether it is one of those fancy ones that they are selling or one that you have made from a plastic container. This is for you to scoop up all the fine debris out of the gutter.
Finally you will need a long extension pole for pushing the debris that is unreachable further down the gutter and a hose for washing the fine particles of debris down into the downspout.
Start by removing all the build up of leaves and grass and other large pieces of debris from the gutter and placing them in the bucket.
After you have reached all the debris that you can with your hands, use the extension pole to push any unreachable debris further down the gutter nearer to the downspout.
After all the debris is gone except the for the ones that is nearest to the downspout turn on your hose on its maximum level and place it into the gutter and direct it at the build up debris, forcing it to move down the downspout.
When you see that the water is flowing freely through your downspout you know that the gutter is completely free of debris.
