What Are The Types Of Chimney Cap and Crown?

There are different types of chimney cap and crown so you will have to choose the one that's right for your chimney.

The single flue chimney cap is generally fitted on top the flue, all you have to do is now is put it onto the flue itself, then get it in the right position and then you just screw it on securely from all sides and you are done.

Then there are the inside mounts chimney cap and crown which come in two different styles, there is one that is designed for a tile flue which is round,, all you have to do to install this type is push it downwards directly inside the flue until it is fitting snugly and then you simply use a silicone sealer and seal all around the joints.

Another type of chimney cap and crown is the inside mount chimney cap, this one is designed for a metal flue, this type of cap is installed in the same way as you installed the one for a round tile flue, with one exception and that is after you have pushed it down inside the flue and made sure that it is fitting snugly, you do not seal around the joints with a sealer.

To install a top mount chimney cap and crown you will have to place the chimney cap in position on the chimney crown. Then around the chimney cap bottom area wrap the flange around it in order for it to match with the chimney crown. Next create a line all around the flange and put a thick bead of caulk just to the inside of the line.
