Whether for security purposes or private usage, bedroom cams are a great way to keep an eye on what's going on. Though there are some legal implication of invasion of privacy and stalking, the bedroom cams for security purposes that are available on the market today tend to be just the right balance of surveillance and security to avoid crossing into any illegal boundaries.
For instance some hotel rooms are equipped with such cameras to cater for hosting Diplomats or other people whose safety is priority. In other situations, where bedroom cams tend to serve general security purposes but are not in the position of being used for 'life and death' matters, these cams tend to be of a lower definition and some of them are not running cameras but rather picture cams that shoot every few seconds.
Many of them also run on infra-red technology so the images are not explicit enough to be regarded as an invasion of privacy. But for personal, private use at home, the choice of bedroom cam is really up to those who will be using it.
A word of caution however, personal footage from cams all across the world in recent times have ended up in very public places so either be cautious of how and where you store your footage, or don't do something that you will be embarrassed about if it should ever surface!
For personal use, it is not uncommon for new parents to set up bedroom cams in the baby's bedroom or nursery, especially around the time that baby is starting to speak and many memorable moments have been captured on camera!
Bedroom cams are also useful for medical purposes and for observation. However, even if being used for medical purposes, the individual or individuals in question must give his/her consent to the usage of a camera.
But nevertheless, bedroom cams have been most useful in observing people with strange sleep patterns, autism and especially people with a range of psychiatric disorders and illnesses.
In some old age homes and facilities bedroom cams are particularly useful in monitoring patients who are physically ill.
But again, there must be permission for this type of observance as the law makes it clear that every person has the right to his or her privacy.
