Give Some Thought to Bathroom Lighting

Bathroom Lighting: The bathroom is a place where you can do everything from taking a bath to getting dressed to applying makeup, and it is a room that is used almost all the time. So it's only natural that any bathroom should be outfitted with proper bathroom lighting.

Light in a bathroom is very important so that you can use the bathroom for the purposes intended without obstruction, accidents can be prevented and you can keep both you and the bathroom clean.

And with all the types of bathroom lighting available on the market, you are sure to find exactly what you need to make your bathroom as functional as it ought to be. A popular choice of bathroom lighting has always been wall and ceiling fixtures.

These are relatively small fixtures that come in every style, design and color that match any décor and offer a concentrated cast of light where needed.

Of course it serves to illuminate the entire room, but when strategically placed at the sides of bathroom mirrors and vanities and directly above bath tubs or showers, it creates emphasis on a particular area. However if these fixture are not strategically placed they tend to cast shadows and it is not the best light for applying makeup or other intricate tasks.

Also if concentrated light is not what you want, then wall and ceiling fixtures may not be your best option, however, they are usually used as additional lighting fixtures on walls and ceilings just in case an occasion ever warrants it. Bar lighting is a type of bathroom lighting in which small, white glass bulbs are encased in a bar that is attached just over bathroom mirrors, vanities and countertops.

This type of bathroom lighting tends to diffuse light over a large area and is perfect for toiletry, priming and applying makeup. This type of lighting is frequently seen bolted to the top of large mirrors in celebrity dressing rooms and backstage theater dressing rooms.

Another popular choice for bathroom lighting in recent times has been the recessed ceiling light system that can be found in so many bathroom ceilings today.

Because these lights are fixed into the ceiling instead of on the ceiling, the light does not emphasize any single spot and cast deep shadows. Instead it still illuminates the entire area in a soft low or high definition light depending on your choice of light bulb and dimming system.

There has also been a recent trend in bathroom lighting to use lamps and sconces in the bathroom, usually fixed on walls away from sinks and showers or tubs, but these tend to be an addition to the lighting system rather than the sole source of light.

The fact remains that lighting in a bathroom should be functional and safe. Safety is important to bear in mind when choosing any electrical accessories, especially lamps and lights as water, humidity and condensation in the air are things that can cause very terrible and even fatal accidents.
