Traditional aluminium gutters (also known as Sectional gutters) are basically lengths of gutter that snap together with connectors.
These gutters are quite easy to install but will require some maintenance, as with everything else during the course of time they will develop leaks along the seams and will have to be repaired.
Seamless gutters as the name implies are one long piece of aluminium or copper gutter which connects to the external drainage system from the corners and downspout outlets with hidden hangers.
Although seamless gutters are supposed to be seamless that is not quite true because they do require seams at the corners where they connect to the drainage system and also at the downspout outlets where they are attached, but it is fair to say that there are no other seams besides in these areas.
Both traditional aluminium gutter systems and seamless gutter systems require additional pieces to complete the job such as leader heads, end caps, corner pieces, elbows, pipe straps, spikes and ferrules and drop outlets to connect to the downspouts.
Depending on the type of drainage system you are installing not all of these additional pieces will be necessary.
